Central Midlands League North Division club Retford FC have bolstered their squad with the addition of 18-year-old forward Ryan Evans from SkyBet League Two side Grimsby Town.
Evans joins on a `work experience` basis to get game time and Retford have offered him the chance to play for them until the end of the season.
Manager Chris Woodhead is excited to have the youngster in his squad: “I’m absolutely delighted that Ryan has chosen us to get some game time. He is a Retford lad and wants to be out on the pitch, there is no better place for him to do it in Retford with people he knows and a club that will support him.
“We are a stepping stone for a player of his quality and I have no doubt he will gain the experience he needs with us and go play at a very good level. From a selfish point of view he adds quality to the squad and we hope he scores lots of goals for us!”
Evans, who lives in Retford, trained with his new team-mates on Wednesday evening and played a part in Friday night`s 5-0 win over Lincoln Moorlands on Friday evening.
“You can see why he is at Grimsby Town. It’s a big coup for the club, it shows the ambition we have,” added Woodhead.
