In the Evo-Stik League South Premier on Monday night, Dorchester Town earned their first points of the new campaign, as did St Neots Town from a draw at Hitchin Town.
At the Avenue Stadium, a crowd of 469 saw the Magpies beat Basingstoke Town 1-0 to leave Terry Brown`s side still looking for their first points.
The only goal came just after the hour-mark when David Jerrard`s cross was
headed home by Ollie Griggs.
Meanwhile, at Top Field, a crowd of 520 saw St Neots snatch a last-gasp draw against hosts Hitchin Town.
The Canaries, who drew 0-0 at Merthyr Town on Saturday, broke through right on the stroke of half-time when Liam Brooks convered a free-kick at the near post.
But on 65 minutes, the Saints were level when an effort from sub Kyran Wiltshire went in under the home keeper.
Parity lasted barely 4 minutes though as Brooks netted his second of the game – this time at the near post.
And that looked like being the winner until, in the 4th minute of stoppage time, a free-kick hit the bar and rebounded kindly for Danny Watson to equalise.
In the Evo-Stik League South East`s only game of Monday night, Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League champions Hartley Wintney made it two wins from two games at the higher level after a 2-1 win at Holloways Park against a Beaconsfield Town side who had comprehensively won their opener on Saturday at Aylesbury United.
Last season`s top marksman, Sam Argent, gave Hartley Wintney an 18th minute lead.
But when Charlie Losasso levelled from the penalty spot with 16 minutes to go, a point apiece looked likely until Liam Eagle popped up with a stoppage time winner for the confident vicitors.
