New signing Derwin Martina has been released by Vanarama National League club York City after just a single reserve outing.
Manager Gary Mills made the shock decision immediately following Tuesday afternoon’s 2-1 home defeat to Hartlepool United at Bootham Crescent.
The 22-year-old right-back only joined the Minstermen last week until the end of the season. He featured for 82 minutes before being replaced by youngster Brad Freer.
Born in Amsterdam, Martina is a Curacao international with three caps while most recently appearing for Atlantis FC in Finland.
