Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One club Selby Town have appointed Christian Fox as their new manager.

He replaces Nigel Emery, who was sacked by the Robins last month.

The 36-year-old already has previous with Selby, having represented them during his playing career. His latest role will also involve their junior set-up through his own `All Star Football Academy` business.

Fox was regarded as the “outstanding candidate” to replace Emery after proving himself a success at Poppleton United this season.

The former York City midfielder made seventy-seven appearances and scored once for the Minstermen while operating as an attacking midfielder at Bootham Crescent between 1999 and 2004. He also had a spell with Harrogate Town.

A club statement said: “After sifting through all the applications and interviewing a short list, Christian was appointed.

“Christian played for Selby Town under Bob Lyon so many fans will remember him from then.

“The committee are satisfied that they have got the right man to take the club forward into the centenary season”.
