Marine Boss Tommy Just Wants To Keep On Building

There are no bold predictions from Marine manager Tommy Lawson ahead of their season’s start next weekend, he just wants to build on last term.

When Lawson took over last season, his team were floundering near the bottom.

The final few month saw a big upturn in fortunes, ending in 18th place and well clear of a relegation which at one point seems a reality.

Lawson, the former Skelmersdale manager, thinks next season is about building blocks.

“It’s the next step in what we’re trying to do,” said the Marine boss. “Next season is about building on what we achieved last year and improving.

“I’m not going to sit here and say we’re going to do this or do that – there are some big clubs in this league and it gets tougher every single season.

“I’ve seen good signs in pre-season. I think the players are performing and although we’re not the finished article I think we’re looking stronger.”

Marine have strengthened off the pitch as well as on it in the last few weeks.

Dave Mackin has been appointed Media Officer to broaden the club’s digital presence through the website and social media.

He said: “I’m really excited to be joining Marine and can’t wait for the season to start. I love football at all levels and I want to combine that with the skills I’ve acquired in communications over the years.

“My main ambition is to get a YouTube channel up and running where we can host interviews with the manager and players – so watch this space.”
