Jim Gannon wants to reward Stockport County’s long suffering fans with a playoff place this weekend.
Three points at home to Gloucester City gives the team a big chance of jumping into the top five.
A top six place could also mean their season is extended with Darlington unlikely to be allowed in after failing ground grading requirements.
Gannon says 7th place Stockport’s chances will be enhanced by their fans raising the roof for thme.
“I’m looking forward to a cracking atmosphere at Edgeley Park on Saturday,” he said. “I’m especially pleased for those fans who’ve stuck with us through thin, thinner, a bit of thick and then thin again!
“They’re the fans who’ve kept their courage and faith in the team, and we want them to enjoy this – they’ve been waiting for an occasion like this and it’s going to be cracking.
“I still remember 10,000 came when we drew with Carlisle to stay up, 10,000 watched us against Wycombe in the semi-final and the record gate this season against FC United.
Our fans have been excellent again and there’s a great spirit at the club so I just hope we can provide a fitting finale to the season,” he told the club’s website.
“This has to be a relentless game for 90 minutes because it’s not just about winning, but winning big to make up some goals.
“A few of our players could be heroes this weekend and if we make the playoffs that will be a fantastic achievement for every one of them.”
