Lincoln City boss Danny Cowley praised the never say die attitude of his side as they moved a step closer to the Vanamara National League title writes Tom Feaheny.

The Imps who in recent weeks have made a habit out of grabbing late victories. They did it once again after being 1-0 down to Gateshead with 90 minutes on the clock. Fighting back thanks to goals from Matt Rhead and Nathan Arnold.

Speaking after the three points had been earned, Cowley praised the mental strength of his team.

“To have three games in six days on the back of a long season, it was cumulative fatigue. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how focused you are, you just can’t get to your levels. But we stayed in the game and we are confident that we can go long in games.

“We’ve done that quite a lot which gives you inner belief that you can do it again.”

City know one more victory will ensure they are a League Two side next season. They still have three more games to play and could win it at home when they face Macclesfield Town this Saturday.
