Paul Cox accepts there is a chance striker Ross Hannah may be leaving Barrow in the coming weeks – and that is music to the ears of admirers Chester.
The former Matlock Town forward cannot be guaranteed a starting position at Holker Street.
Hannah has a year left on his contract and he has already been linked with a move to Chester, where he was a popular player before he left for Barrow. It is understood the 31-year-old would been keen to return to the Deva Stadium.
Cox, the National League club’s manager, admits speculation that he could go is not inaccurate but says nothing is sorted yet.
Cox himself has been subject of speculation – linked to relegated EFL League Two club Hartlepool.
I refuse to get my hopes up about Ross Hannah… BUT WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT?!

But that didn’t happen. He will now build for a promotion push next season and Hannah may not be a part of it.
“There is talk of Ross Hannah or Harry Panayiotou moving to pastures new,” said Cox. “That is to balance the books, but I also don’t want us to be top-heavy, like we were last season, in terms of the centre-forwards and always having good players sat in the stands.
“This season, if we are top-heavy in any areas, I would like to get them out on loan, get them playing competitive football very quickly.”
Barrow have already lost key defender Danny Livesey, to Salford City, this close season and the manager knows a new central defender is top of the must-sign list.
