Evo-Stik League Southern Division One Central club Bedford Town have announced the signing of Ryan Auger.

Auger is a 22-year-old midfielder who was at Southend United from the age of 12 years old.

He signed a two-year scholarship with the club before graduating to a one-year professional deal in June 2013.

After leaving Southend, he moved to Bishop`s Stortford and Histon, before returning to Bishop`s Stortford this season.

Auger’s clearances have come through and he should be involved in the squad for Monday’s Bank Holiday home game against Histon.

Manager Jon Taylor said: “He is very good on the ball and will strengthen us in the midfield. He is a great signing and will make a difference to the side.”

Taylor also responded to the news of earlier this week that he had turned down a move to St Neots Town to become manager. He added: “It has been a bit of a difficult week, but I know I have made the right decision.

“I am a Bedford person and it would have been the wrong decision for me to leave. We are starting to get things together and, for the right reasons, I have remained loyal to Bedford Town Football Club”.
