Vanarama National League South club Chelmsford City have announced the signing of four new players ahead of the upcoming season.

Kudos Oyenuga joins the Clarets as manager Rod Stringer’s sixth signing of the summer, sending a further signal of intent as the City boss looks to strengthen his promotion credentials.

The 24-year-old winger joins Chelmsford after previously counting Tottenham Hotspur, Hartlepool United and Scottish side Greenock Morton as his previous employers.

Starting out as a Spurs trainee, first-team chances proved limited for the tricky wide-man.

Loan spells away from White Hart Lane provided brief footballing action, but neither Finnish side MYPA, Bury, nor St Johnstone could provide a firm foundation.

After being released from Spurs in June 2012, two months later Oyenuga joined Hayes & Yeading United.

He finally had found somewhere to establish himself and during his forty appearances in all competitions, Oyenuga found the net 18 times, making himself the club’s top scorer in a battle against relegation.

Oyenuga impressed enough with Hayes & Yeading to warrant a return switch to Scotland, signing for Jackie McNamara’s Dundee United.

Chances proved limited again in Scotland, however, with Oyenuga picking up just one appearance.

Hartlepool became the next home for the young winger, with Oyenuga able to get more footballing chances but, with only eight appearances and one goal, at the end of the season he was released and captured by Greenock Morton.

Oyenuga was able to settle more during his third stint in Scotland, finding the net four times during his twenty-four appearances for The Ton.

Also joining the Clarets is midfielder Matt Johnson.

The former Ebbsfleet United and Margate middle-man joins City having been managed by Stringer at Bishop’s Stortford.

His impressive performances at the ProKit UK Stadium eventually led to a move to Fleet and, since playing at Stonebridge Road, the midfielder has appeared for Margate before signing for City.

The third addition to the squad is Craig Barham-Barrett from neighbours and new league rivals Braintree Town.

Barham-Barrett began his career as a youngster with Charlton Athletic before being released and signed by Eastleigh, East Thurrock United and Welling.

He returned to the Football League with Peterborough in 2008 but failed to make an appearance, thus returning to non-League football with Havant & Waterlooville, Sutton United and Macclesfield Town.

A brief loan spell at Cheltenham Town was made permanent following his fine displays but then joined Ebbsfleet afterwards and spent all his time away from Stonebridge Road on-loan.

Last season Barham-Barrett was situated with Braintree, but in October 2016 he returned to Welling United on loan.

The final addition to the City squad is a welcome return to Aaron Greene.

The young midfielder first joined Chelmsford from Harlow Town in 2013 and by the end of the season his impressive performances had warranted a trial with then League One side Brentford. During his time with the Bees, however, he was on-loan to Boston United.

Prior to the 2016/17 season Greene departed from Brentford and joined AFC Sudbury, but his time with the Yellows was cut short as Mark Hawkes signed the midfielder for Bishop’s Stortford in October 2016.
