Chelmsford City have confirmed the signing of defender Elliot Omozusi from Vanarama National League South rivals Whitehawk.

Twenty-eight-year-old Omozusi started his career as a Fulham trainee before making his first-team debut in September 2006.

The London side introduced him to professional football as a youngster against Wycombe Wanderers in the Captial One Cup.

With Fulham plying their trade in the Premier League, opportunities proved limited for Omozusi, therefore the defender was granted loan opportunities with Norwich City and Charlton Athletic.

Omozusi made twenty-one appearances during his season-long-spell with the Canaries, before featuring nine times during a two-month loan at The Valley.

Next up for the defender was two spells with Leyton Orient, with whom he amassed over 100 appearances for the O’s.

His two spells were split apart by a prison sentence, but after being released he returned to the London side, saying that he wanted to “make the most of this second chance.”

Omozusi proved his change in character when he was nominated for the PFA player in the community award whilst with Leyton Orient, before signing for Cambridge United with whom he cited that the community work United do was a key reason he signed.

The defender has vast amounts of international experience having appeared throughout the England youth groups from under-16 to under-19 level.
