Diamonds Bolster Squad

Ahead of the signing deadline Andy Peaks, manager of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South club AFC Rushden & Diamonds, made some final adjustments to his squad.

Centre-back Edi Appleton re-joins the club having also served the likes of Corby Town, Bedworth United, Rugby Town, Oadby Town, Hyde United, Hinckley United and Samut Prakarn in Thailand having started out at West Bromwich Albion and Notts County.

Appleton is joined by fellow centre-back, veteran Darren Purse, who also has had a short spell on the Diamonds books previously, alongside his role with as head coach of the Diamonds academy.

Purse recently left Chesham United for Vanarama National League South strugglers Bishop`s Stortford, with whom he is dual registered.

Goalkeeper Andy Kemp has also signed having previously been with Stratford Town.

The 27-year-old also numbers Bedworth United, Daventry Town and Banbury United amongst his other former clubs.

Peaks said: “I am very happy with the squad that I have going into the final third of the season, however I have registered three very good players who can give us cover should we need them at this key stage”.

Departing the Diamonds is Lewis Wilson, who has signed for Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division side St Neots Town.
