Midfielder Gus Mafuta has become the twelfth signing of the summer for Vanarama National League North club Salford City, agreeing a two-year deal with The Ammies.
Mafuta, who turns 22 on Sunday, started out with Colchester United’s youth set-up before moving on to Bristol City.
He captained the Robins’ under-21 side during the 2013/14 season and had loan spells with Weston-super-Mare and Nuneaton Town, who were then in the Conference (National League) Premier.
After six influential appearances for Nuneaton, an injury ended Mafuta’s season but after being released by Bristol City in the summer of 2015 he signed a short-term deal with National League side Gateshead in September.
A string of impressive performances earned a contract extension and Mafuta went on to make in excess of sixty appearances for The Heed.
A powerful box-to-box midfielder, he is another impressive addition to an already formidable-looking squad being assembled at Moor Lane.
