Matlock Town have announced the return of 22-year-old left-back or left-sided midfielder Rhys Sharpe.
Sharpe was a Derby County youth graduate and in April 2013, signed his first professional contract on a two-year after he completed his two-year scholarship programmes.
In March 2015. he was loaned to then-League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a month’s loan, and four days later he made his professional debut starting in a 4-1 victory for the Shrews before having his loan extended until the end of the season.
At the end of the season, Sharpe returned to his parent club and was released.
He joined Notts County on a two-year contract in June 2015 but was released by mutual consent just over a year later.
In December 2016, Sharpe joined then-League One side Swindon Town where he would make his debut in the EFL Cup.
Sharpe is a Northern Ireland under-21 international, playing a total of seven times as well as representing his country at under-19 level in the Milk Cup.
Sharpe joined the Gladiators in March of this year for his first spell with the club, scoring a terrific volley on his debut against Stafford Rangers.
He has spent pre-season receiving interest from clubs higher up the football Pyramid but has decided to make the DCJ Group Insurance Arena his home once more.
