Penryn Athletic have been forced to quit the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League – because their players have walked out.
Six players have joined the club’s neighbours Falmouth and that came after the news captain Ben Oliver had retired.
Officials have informed the league that it will be too tough to complete in Division One West because of the mass exodus.
League secretary Phil Hiscox said: “We accept that Penryn Athletic have made their decision with a great deal of thought.
“We wish them well for the future where they will take the place of their reserves in the Combination League.”
Penryn were formed in 1963 by a group of schoolboys, and in 2007 they became founder members of their current league.
