Vanarama National League South club Bath City have announced the signing of defenders Anthony Straker and Darren Jones from Aldershot Town and Newport County respectively as manager Gary Owers begins to develop his squad for the forthcoming season.
Straker is a defender who has spent a large part of his career at Aldershot in two spells, whilst also playing for Southend United, York City and Motherwell as well as representing Grenada.
He was offered a new contract at Aldershot and on signing, Owers said: “I have worked with him before. Iknow him well and there will be a few surprised that we have managed to sign him.”
Jones is a strong and experienced centre-half who has played for Forest Green Rovers, Hereford United, Aldershot, Shrewsbury Town and most recently Newport.
“He is a player I have known for many years and had kept an eye on his situation,” Owers added. “When he announced his retirement from the full-time game I saw an opportunity, and he will be a great addition to the squad”.
Good luck to Strakes and Jonah, fine defenders both https://t.co/CgHoRIjE8x
