Vanarama National League South club Hampton & Richmond Borough have announced the signing of commanding central defender Claudiu Vilcu.
Vilcu was part of the Wingate & Finchley side that ended last season in the last play-off place in the Ryman (Bostik) League Premier Division last season. However, they were unable to find a way past eventual play-off winners Bognor Regis Town.
He left Enfield Town to sign last season for Bishop’s Stortford before joining the Blues in October last year.
Vilcu came to the UK in 2013, and looked to have joined Barnet, but the Bees application for a work permit wasn’t granted, and the defender joined FC Romania and Banbury Town as dual registered player, before passing through Cambridge City on his way to the QE2 Stadium in 2015.
Meanwhile, Sam Gallagher has chosen to stay with the Beavers and commit to the club for the 2017/18 season.
The Australian joined the club back in January, and his versatility towards the end of the season, fitting into a defensive role or sitting in the holding role, earned him praise and made him a firm favourite with the fans in his fourteen appearances for the Beavers.
Welcome to Beveree @ClaudiuVilcu
