Danny Penswick, manager of Hallmark Security League Premier Division club Squires Gate, has strengthened his squad with a familiar face returning.

In the Gate line-up at Cammell Laird 1907 on Saturday was Seydou Bamba.

Bamba played the full 90 minutes and looked assured at centre-back alongside Paul Carroll and should have kept a clean sheet was it not for a strange penalty decision.

Bamba joins from Padiham where he won the players` player of the season and played nearly every league game for them last season.

He returns to Gate having played for the club two season ago under Dave McCann and Russ McKenna before him, occupying numerous different positions.

On Bamba’s arrival, Penswick said: “Seydou was my man of the match on Saturday if I’m being honest. Seydou is a very strong player at this level and the level above. He’s strong, combative, can win his aerial battles and he can play as well.

“I’ve been in the market for a defensive player and I know Seydou can do and job in midfield or up top as well. He’s a leader and I’m really happy we could get him down and get him in.”

Also joining the club is midfielder Ryan Stayte, signed from West Lancashire League side Blackpool Wren Rovers.

Stayte is the brother of midfielder Anthony and can play either midfield or right-back.

Ryan was highly rated at Bolton Wanderers and was named in their twenty-five-man Premier League squad in the 2010/11 season.

Upon leaving Bolton he joined Limestone College in America, and since returning to Blackpool he has been playing next door for Blackpool Wren Rovers.
