Calor League Southern Premier Division club Bideford are unhappy about having to play the next round of the….
…..FA Carlsberg Trophy on a Sunday.
After winning 3-2 at Swindon Supermarine in the First Qualifying Round, Bideford have been drawn away to Hendon.
The Ryman League Premier Division club share a ground with Harrow Borough who have a home fixture on Saturday, November 2nd.
It means Bideford will travel to London to face the Greens on Sunday, November 3rd.
Manager Sean Joyce said: “It’s a Saturday cup and all of a sudden they are dictating we have got to go up there on a Sunday.
“Home advantage is so important in this cup – we are all very much at the same level – and with it being on a Sunday it makes it even worse.”
Joyce praised his players for a “tremendous win” at Supermarine, achieved without Owen Howe, who was suspended, and Ashley Yeoman, who was not cleared to play after joining on loan from Torquay United. Yeoman will be eligible for the next round.
Meanwhile, Bideford forward Sean Downing has told the North Devon Journal he felt “honoured” to pull on an England shirt when he played for an FA Select XI against Devon in a match marking the 125th anniversary of the county association.
“Wearing the England shirt is what you dream of,” said Downing.
