FC Bolsover have announced that they are expanding their search to find out who will be in charge of the Toolstation Northern Counties East League Division One club for the 2018/19 season.
The Langwith Road tenants were assured of their place in Step 6 football for next year at the end of April, finishing one point above the relegation zone.
Current manager Adam Valente will be reapplying for the position but, at the club’s end of season review, it was agreed that candidates from outside of the club will also be able to throw their hat into the ring.
A statement by the club on their website said: “Adam Valente’s position was always going to be reviewed at the end of the season.
“He came into the club ‘apprehensively’ risking his managerial reputation in its early stages. Adam agreed to step in until the end of the campaign and do the very best he could.
“Adam took the reins at the end of November and was soon left without a squad to choose from. With great determination, he got bodies on the field and picked up just enough vital wins which helped us beat the drop.
“The club owe great thanks for Adam taking the job in the middle of winter and not just helping us see the season off but helping us to survive.
“However, this may not be the end for Adam and Bolsover.
“Adam is going to reapply for the position with the idea of a clean slate and a full pre-season under his belt which the club have welcomed.
“Bolsover want to be absolutely sure they find the best person for the job to avoid another turbulent season that this has been, whether that is Adam or somebody else.
“We will be speaking with Adam along with the rest of the other candidates as early as possible, so a decision is made before pre-season commences”.
