Paul Carden, manager of Vanarama National League club Southport, has signed 19-year-old midfielder Michael Brewster.
Brewster suffered a fractured fibula in his left leg at the age of 17 which slowed his progress with League One Oldham Athletic.
He was eventually released by the Latics at the end of the 2013/14 season and eventually joined FC United of Manchester in August 2014.
Then in February 2015 he left the Reds and signed for Scottish side St Mirren where he featured in their under-20 side.
Brewster has impressed Carden enough in pre-season to be offered a deal at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.
