North West Counties League club 1874 Northwich have designated this coming Saturday’s home game against Formby….

….as a game when supporters should make a special effort to `bring a mate`.

The suggestion was made by a supporter, and after further discussions took place at a recent Board meeting, it was agreed to fully support the initiative for this Saturday’s game.

A club statement said: “We are very grateful for the idea, as it has already been noticed that more and more old faces are turning up to have a look at what is being created here.

“We do think that even more people should avail themselves of the opportunity to come and watch a community club that wants to live within its means, whilst being open to thoughts, ideas and suggestions of its supporters”.

As a thank you to everyone who attends the game on Saturday, everyone who turns up will receive a free raffle ticket on entry, and two winning tickets will be drawn out after the game.

Each winner will receive one of the club’s pre-season friendly shirts, two of the very first shirts worn by the 1874 Northwich team, giving the winners a chance to own a little slice of the club’s history.

In addition, representatives from `Blind Veterans UK` and ‘Guide Dogs For the Blind` will also be present at the game, to raise awareness of their organisations’ work and also to help publicise a fund raising event organised by the club’s Community Projects Coordinator Tony Rogers.

On the 19th October, Tony and other 1874 Northwich fans will be taking part in a 27-mile blindfolded sponsored charity challenge at Marbury Country Park in Northwich, with all money raised being donated to both charities.
