Goalkeeper Cameron Ringstead came in at the eleventh hour as a replacement for Danny Roberts, who faces up to six weeks on the sidelines with a broken finger.
Ringstead, aged 19, joined on loan from npower League Two side Crewe Alexandra was kept bust by the Nailers` front line and made a number of important saves throughout the game.
Also making his debut was experienced striker Peter Wright, who was formerly with Kendal Town where he played with Leek defender George Melling.
Wright scored with a well-taken goal on his debut to give Blues the lead and looked lively throughout despite having taken time out of the game recently following the birth of his child.
Wright has played for a host of other clubs including Halifax Town, Burscough, Southport, Northwich Victoria, Altrincham, Bamber Bridge, Chorley, Mossley, Fleetwood Town and Ashton United.
