Chester Bring in Roberts

Vanarama Conference club Chester FC have signed goalkeeper Connor Roberts.

Roberts, 21, moved to Everton from Tranmere Rovers at the age of15 and spent four years with the Toffees, signing his first professional contract in 2011.

He had loan spells with Burscough and Colwyn Bay but switched to Cheltenham Town after being released in 2012.

Wrexham-born Roberts made one senior appearances in two seasons with the Robins but left Waddon Road in May.

He had a trial spell with Chester`s league rivals Wrexham last month but has been training with the Blues since last week.

Roberts, who has six caps for Wales under-21s, was named in the senior national squad to face the Netherlands in May.

He will be included in the squad for the trip to Gateshead on Saturday and will compete with Jon Worsnop for the number one shirt.
