Vanarama National League play-off chasers Grimsby Town have signed left-back Evan Horwood on loan from Sky Bet League Two side Northampton Town until the end of the season.

Horwood arrived at Sixfields in 2014 after a successful loan spell from Tranmere Rovers.

He began his career at Sheffield United in 2004 and after gaining experience on loan at Stockport County, York City, Chester, Darlington and Gretna he joined Carlisle United in 2007.

He spent two seasons with the Cumbrians before moving to home-town club Hartlepool United in 2010.

After almost 150 appearances, he joined Tranmere in the summer of 2013.
