Ryman League Premier Division new boys Witham Town have announced that eight more of last season`s squad have….

….agreed to sign for forthcoming season.

Seb Murfet, Lee Townrow, Paul King, Paul White, Joe Sweeney, Danny Lopes, Connor Mead and Brad Stopher join contracted players Kris Newby, Danny Emmanuel, Shammy Pedilu and Lewis Godbold with the Essex outfit.

So far the management have added two new players in Jamie Guy and Paul Burnett and there are likely to be more in due course.

Assistant-manager Brad King said: “We are still to talk to a few of the squad as so much happening but so far we are really pleased that most have agreed to sign.

“These boys are a pleasure to work with and deserve their chance in Ryman Prem. As you would have guessed so many clubs in Ryman North have spoken to our boys and offered better terms financially but a testament to characters in the squad that they want to have a go with us next season.

“We all know that if we stay up it will be a bigger achievement than last season. There are so many fantastic clubs in the league and I have spoken to a few managers in Prem recently and we know what we have to do.

“We will be looking to add two or three more in due course.”

The club can also confirm that they have parted ways with Dean Green and we would like to wish him all the best.

King added: “Greeny is true gent and the boys loved him and he made big contribution to the side last season. But he understood that at 37 playing in the Prem may be a bit too much and he agreed he needs to play regular in the Ryman North somewhere. We thank him for everything he done and wish him all the best.”
