Concord Rangers fans will be hoping to get a look at their highly-rated new midfielder Archange Nkumu at when they visit….
…..Tonbridge Angels in the Skrill South on Saturday.
The 20-year-old cut his teeth with Chelsea and was released by the Premier League giants in the summer, and he is now set to go on a trial with Scottish champions Celtic.
The FA Youth Cup winner, who has had loan spells at Colchester United and MK Dons in League One, has agreed a temporary stay with the non-League Beachboys to build up his match fitness and could make his debut at the Longmead Stadium, after being an unused sub in Concord’s 2-1 win at Bromley on Tuesday.
Tonbridge occupy the final relegation spot and lost 2-1 at Weston-super-Mare last Saturday. But they have games in hand on their rivals and their manager Tommy Warrilow told his local press this week he expects his side to steer clear of relegation.
Warrilow watched Concord beat leaders Bromley on their own patch this week and said the Beachboys deserved their shock victory.
Concord boss Danny Cowley says there is no danger of his side underestimating an Angels side who feature experienced players in the shape of Chris Piper and Lee Browning.
But the Beachboys boss says confidence is high in their camp at the moment and they want to continue their good recent form.
He said: “I think in our last nine league games we have won five, drawn three and lost one. And for us to just lose one in that time is an unbelievable effort really.
“So we continue to surpass our expectations. But we demand a lot from ourselves and we want to keep our good run going at Tonbridge if we can.”
