Justin Gardner, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Aveley, has confirmed a number of signings ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Re-signing for the club having played at Mill Field last season include goalkeeper Dave McCartney, defender Steve Willis, midfielders Jack Stevenson, Paul Burnett and Sheldon Sellears.

Junior Appiah, who featured towards the end of last season, will also be returning to Mill Field.

Also signing on for another campaign is last season’s top goalscorer Daniel Francis.

Gardner has also been able to add a number of new players to his squad following the opening few weeks of pre-season training.

Former Billericay Town defender Carl Patten has signed forms for the club, while a former Miller in the shape of Jay Leader will be returning to Mill Field – both played under Gardner at Essex Senior Leaguers Bethnal Green United.

Leader was with the club under the management of Dave Spittle and Mark Brett in the 2007/08 season.

Midfielder Tom Querry, who has previously played for Ware and Bishop’s Stortford, has also signed a deal with the Millers.
