Vanarama National League South club Truro City have announced the dual signings of Martin Rice and Aaron Dawson, both from National League neighbours Torquay United.
Both players put pen-to-paper last night before training at Ivybridge.
Fans will be familiar with Rice as he has already notched up 122 appearances as goalkeeper over three years for Truro.
He debuted on 16th August 2008 against Thatcham Town and made forty apps in 2008/09, forty-one in 2009/10 and another forty-one in 2010/11.
He even scored a penalty at home against Abingdon United in a 4-0 win in February 2009.
Rice is absolutely delighted with the transfer and can’t wait to get started. With his painting and decorating job locally, everything fits perfectly for him. He looked in form in training and hasn’t lost any of that character we know!
Dawson is a 23-year-old midfielder who can fill in at the back if required.
He started his career in the youth team of Exeter City and signed his first professional contract in May 2010 after completing his two-year scholarship.
In September 2011, he joined Southern League side Tiverton Town on a four-month loan.
He made his professional debut for Exeter in February 2012, in a 2–0 defeat to Huddersfield Town at the Galpharm Stadium.
Dawson started on trial with Torquay in January 2015 following his release by Exeter before signing a short-term deal.
He is also very pleased with his signing and he certainly looked impressive in training at Ivybridge last night.
Manager Steve Tully is delighted with the two quality signings and adds to the fourteen confirmed signatures already starting the season ahead, although he continues the search for a proven striker.
