Skrill North club Harrogate Town have signed 19-year-old defender Tom Allan from Sky Bet League Tow neighbours York City.

Allan started with City juniors at a very young age and continued to show promise as he moved through the youth ranks of his home-town club.

A tall defender with the ability to pass the ball out from the back, he first came to prominence when playing for the first-team in pre-season friendly games at the age of just 16.

He signed his first professional deal whilst still midway through his second year traineeship, and is very highly-rated by all at Bootham Crescent.

Comfortable in both centre-back and left-back positions, Allan was eased into the first-team picture during last season, making four substitute appearances and one start – that coming in a 2-0 win at Northampton Town where he displayed courage and determination in a tricky game.
