Ryman League Division One North club Brightlingsea Regent have appointed Angelo Harrop as their new head coach and Mike Wallace as performance analysis.

Harrop will need no introduction to Brightlingsea Regent fans and local football supporters as he had been in charge of Thurlow Nunn League side Stanway Rovers since 2014, where he resigned from his position two weeks ago.

He will take up the vacant role left by Dean Wells after he departed the club last Monday afternoon following family commitments.

Wells was unable to give Brightlingsea his full attention which he felt that the club deserved and needed going forward.

Harrop will go down as Stanway’s most successful manager in their history, leading the club to a midtable finish in his first season after taking over when the club were languishing in seventeenth position.

The following two seasons Harrop guided the club to third place in the league in consecutive seasons, their highest to date, as well as record-equalling runs in the FA Vase and FA Cup along the way.

Harrop is also involved in the Colne Football College, coaching the first-team, and holds a UEFA B Coaching Licence. He has had footballing spells for Needham Market, Leiston and Colchester United as a scholar.

Also, joining the first-team is Mike Wallace as performance analysis.

Wallace is from the Wirral, and graduated from UEL in Sports Performance and Development.

He spent two years at Charlton Athletic and has also completed the FA Level 2 coaching and youth modules 1 and 2.

He has also spent time working in the youth academies at Peterborough United, Boreham Wood and Colchester United and joins Brightlingsea Regent to offer his experience to help the club push on to the next level.
