Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South club Rugby Town have accepted the resignation of manager James Jepson with immediate effect.

Jepson handed in his resignation shortly after the club’s 6-0 Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round defeat to Vanarama National League North side Brackley Town on Saturday due to personal reasons.

Jepson was appointed as Valley`s manager in May 2016, replacing the outgoing Dale Belford.

The 34-year-old midfielder was embarking on his first managerial appointment after a long non-League career.

Jepson featured for a host of non-League clubs including Kettering Town, Gresley FC, Hucknall Town, King’s Lynn and Rushden & Diamonds after starting his career as a youth player with Notts County.

The club will now begin the search for a successor.

Jepson`s last signings as manager were striker Elie Akobeto and Levi Walker.

Frenchman Akobeto, 20, joins from League Two Mansfield Town having previously been with Bolton Wanderers.

Walker is another former Mansfield player who joins Valley from NPL Premier Division side Mickleover Sports.

A consistent performer at right-back, Walker has pace and was in the academy set-up at Notts County prior to joining the Stags.
