Several more players look set to fly the nest at Skrill South club Dorchester Town following further budget cuts.
Last Saturday’s FA Cup exit and falling attendances have caused the club to reduce their playing kitty yet again, leaving boss Phil Simkin with no other option but to let some of his squad go.
Non-contract goalkeeper Tim Sandercombe has become the latest to be released, while other players have been put up for sale.
Simkin said: “It was bad enough losing half the side before the season started, but to now have to put all the players on the transfer list is about the final straw.
“Where we go from here I don’t know, but one thing is for sure and that is we will keep fighting on.”
Club director Dave Ring has confirmed on the Magpies’ fans’ forum that the playing budget is now down to £1,300 a week. However, he has also insisted that figure will increase if match-day attendances start to improve.
