Lee Casswell, manager of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South club Leek Town, has strengthened his…..
….squad further with the signing of former Crewe Alexandra midfielder Dan Shelley.
Shelley, 22, was released by the npower League One club in the summer after spending seven seasons at Gresty Road.
He started out in the youth set-up and then graduated to the first-team in 2008, making thirty-nine starts and a further thirty-four substitute appearances, scoring eight goals.
The six-footer was released during the summer and, despite a number of trials since his release, he failed to find a club and trained with the Blues last week prior to signing on non-contract terms.
He will go straight into the squad for Tuesday night’s game at Market Drayton Town.
Meanwhile, the Blues` injury list is improving with goalkeeper Danny Roberts reporting a vast improvement to his broken finger, whilst Dan Cope’s surgeon had some good news for the young striker who has been out of action since Blues’ last pre-season friendly at Buxton in August.
Cope was relieved to learn he doesn’t need further surgery and will return to training after undergoing physio treatment over the next couple of weeks.
Anthony Danylyk’s ankle injury is causing some concern and therefore the midfielder will seek a second opinion this week.
