Lee Burns has informed manager Tony Burman he will not be taking up the offer of returning to pre-season with Vanarama National League South club Dartford and will take up a new challenge elsewhere.

Thirty-three-year-old Burns joined Dartford from Braintree Town in June 2009 and went on to make 272 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals, although he managed only ten league games last season due to injuries.

Burman said: “Lee has been one of the best players and characters that I have ever worked with throughout his time with Dartford FC. I can’t thank him enough for the help he has given me and the club over the last eight years to reach the highest level of non-League football.

“I think we will all miss his bubbly character”.
