The final match of the 2012/13 season against Continental Star will signal the end of an era, marking the last game….

….of the five-year tenure of Baker Joiner Midland Alliance club Boldmere St Michaels` current management duo of Rob Mallaband and assistant Craig Feasey.

Both former Mikes` players, the pair came back to the club for the start of the 2008/09 season, which also marked the club’s 125-year Anniversary.

The management team, which moved en-bloc from neighbours Walsall Wood, also included Steve Moore and Rob Clarke with Stuart Grosvenor also stepping up to assist with coaching.

The first season saw an excellent fourth place finish in a weather disrupted season and the club reached the Midland Alliance League Cup final for the first time.

The Mikes though were unable to deny Market Drayton Town a league and cup `double` at The Banks’s Stadium.

At the end of that season, the first-team management structure was streamlined as Steve Moore left the club, while Rob Clarke took charge of the reserves. A superb end of season run saw the Mikes secure a top six finish on the final day.

Another League Cup final appearance followed in 2010/11, but it was ultimately another Bescot disappointment against Stratford Town.

The campaign also marked a Third Round appearance in the FA Vase, narrowly going out to eventual winners Whitley Bay in a memorable clash on Tyneside.

Of some consolation was a third-placed league finish, equalling the club’s best ever Midland Alliance placing.

Working within extremely tight financial constraints, Mallaband and Feasey steered the club to a mid-table finish last season, steadying the ship after a nightmare spell either side Christmas.

The Mikes fell one hurdle short of another Bescot appearance in the League Cup.

Mallaband’s contribution as manager and club director saw him awarded the Clubman of the Year award at the end of season presentation.

Former Mikes` striker Martin Dean joined the coaching team at the start of the current season, and the Mikes are already assured of a top half finish and once again reached the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Neither plan an immediate return to management – Mallband will remain as a director, while Feasey is sure to be working hard to reduce his golf handicap!

The club have appointed from within with Stuart Grosvenor taking the reins for next season.

Grosvenor will be assisted by current reserve team boss Paul Bradley, Martin Dean and Iain MacLaren.

The club will say a proper `thank you` on the evening of 4th May, when over 100 people will sit down for a celebration dinner, which will also see the annual club awards presented.
