Management Change at Hythe & Dibden

Hythe & Dibden have undergone another managerial change after a dire start to the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Division One campaign.

Scott Johnston, who doubled up as co-team boss and club secretary, has left the Clayfields outfit after four years

Coming in to join summer appointment Matt Froukhians is former AFC Totton youth boss Shawn Kitcher, who was running Totton & Eling’s reserves.

Last week’s “embarrassing” 4-1 defeat at Weymouth reserves was the last straw for club chairman Dave Cox.

But when he broached the management team about recruiting the experienced Kitcher as part of a three-man set-up, Johnston opted to move on.

“Scotty’s a brilliant nipper, but when I spoke to him about Shawn coming in and wanting to bring some players over with him, he didn’t want to work with Shawn,” he told the Daily Echo. “I’m gutted, but we had to do something.

“Shawn’s an outgoing character who’s been around the block. We’ve brought him in to boost things,” added Cox.

“I don’t want to slate Scotty, he’s been great for us. The players let him down and, as manager, he took the brunt.

“I’d also like to thank Scott’s dad Martin and his partner from Complete Security who have supported us totally these last four years”.
