Matthews Looking for New Recruits

Calor League Southern Premier Division club Weymouth could have some new recruits on board for this Saturday’s….

….home clash against Bedford Town.

Caretaker-manager Jason Matthews has been holding positive talks with a number of clubs and is hopeful that something will come to fruition over the next couple of days.

The need to bring in reinforcements has become more significant after Dave Allen broke his foot in an accident.

Matthews said: “Dave fell down some stairs and broke his foot earlier this week, which is a big blow because he did a good job last weekend, and with Ashley Wells out as well due to a one-game suspension, it has only left us with a dozen senior pros.

“I have been making lots of calls over the last few days and the feedback I have been getting from clubs has been very positive.

“A lot of them are willing to help us and I am hopeful of getting at least one new face in by Saturday.”

With the Terras insisting they are in no rush to find a permanent replacement for Brendon King, it appears Matthews could be in the hot-seat for a while.

Commenting on his first week at the helm, he added: “It’s been good. I got a good reaction from the lads at Banbury United and we also had a very good training session on Tuesday, so at the moment it’s all looking very encouraging.”
