Talks to keep last year’s run-away top scorer and player of the year Charlie Moone at Ryman League Premier Division club….

….Hampton & Richmond Borough are progressing, according to joint-manager Paul Barry.

After seeing fans’ favourite Dave Tarpey leave last Friday to sign for Conference South side Maidenhead United, the club are keen to keep hold of the second half of their fearsome attack.

Barry confirmed that there could be some good news before the weekend – and that fellow forward Ben Harris is close to agreeing terms for 2014/15.

Barry said: “It goes without saying that it was sad to see Dave go.

“But he has gone back to a higher division and for a better offer so we will get on with things, that’s football at this level I’m afraid – you’ve got to live with it.

“We hope to get Charlie finalised this week, and also Ben. Keeping Charlie is a top priority after all his goals and things are going well. We’ll keep everyone updated.”

And the first new arrival of the close season is getting nearer – Barry confirming a deal is close to being done.

He added: “We have reached an agreement with a left winger who excites us and we hope to finalise that soon.

“There’s a lot going on at the moment and the club is working as hard as possible to tie players down and bring in new blood.”
