Vanarama Conference club Dover Athletic have announced that James Poole has returned to Crabble initially until the end of….

…..the season, and goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s clash at Lincoln City.

The 24-year-old spent time on loan at Crabble earlier on this season on loan from Sky Bet League Two side Bury in November 2014.

A skilful attacking midfielder or forward, Poole is a product of the Manchester City Academy, although he joined the Sky Blues for a small fee from Macclesfield Town’s centre of Excellence.

A part of the City FA Youth Cup-winning side of 2008 that beat Chelsea before signing a pro contract in March 2010, he joined the Shakers on loan in search of League experience soon after, making nine appearances for Bury before re-joining City at the end of the season.

Another loan move followed the following season, this time to Hartlepool United where he made six appearances over a two-month loan spell and scoring his first ever senior goal.

At the end of the 2011/12 season, he signed for Pools on a permanent basis.

After turning down a new deal at the end of the 2013/14 season, Poole attempted to seek a club abroad and even scored against the Shakers whilst on trial for Australian outfit Melbourne FC. However, he stayed in the UK and joined Bury in time for the new season on non-contract terms.
