Ravens Earn Valuable Three Points

Second-placed Coalville Town reduced the gap at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division to nine points after winning 2-0 against play-off chasing Romulus on Sunday afternoon.

It`s probably safe to say that this game wouldn`t have taken place had it not been on the 3G at Coles Lane with the weather once again being dreadful.

The Roms started the match two points behind the top five places, but fell behind after 27 minutes when Nathan Watson`s powerful drive was pushed out to Jake Woolley who made no mistake from six yards.

And just 4 minutes later the home side were left with a mountain to climb as the Ravens made it 2-0 with a superb effort from Watson, whose half-volley from a narrow angle gave the home keeper no chance.

The second half saw the Roms force Coalville back but were unable to make a dent into the scoreline and on a weekend when many games were off, this could well be three very valuable points for the Ravens.
