Calor League Southern Premier Division club St Albans City brought in defender Tom Ward on loan from Skrill North side Gainsborough Trinity.

Ward, 23, joins the Saints on an initial one-month loan, and went straight into the team that beat Cambridge City 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Ward joined Trinity in June from league rivals and Lincolnshire neighbours Boston United.

He had arrived at York Street in the summer of 2010 from ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side Sleaford Town and initially impressed for the reserves before earning a senior contract the following season.

He finally broke into the first-team during the 2011/12 campaign and went on to score four goals in thirty-four appearances for the Pilgrims.

Ward was offered non-contract terms at the end of last season after featuring thirty-seven times for Boston in 2012/13.

However, after originally accepting the offer, the centre back changed his decision, much to the disappointment of Boston boss Dennis Greene.
