A round-up of some of Saturday`s early pre-season fixtures.

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division club Buxton got their pre-season underway with a very creditable 1-1 draw with Sky Bet League Two side Chesterfield on Saturday.

Jay O’Shea equalised for the Spireites in the 80th minute after Shaun Tuton scored a first half opener for the hosts.

Southern League Division One Central new boys Bedford Town comfortably won their opening pre-season friendly 4-1 at ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One side Bugbrooke St Michaels.

Scorers for the Eagles were Tom Liversedge (pen), Aaron King, Scott Cross and Jordan Cleghorn.

A first half Alan Connell goal eventually proved enough to give League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge victory at Hayes Lane against Conference South side Bromley.

Ryman League Premier Division club Lewes were Sami Hyypia`s first opponents as manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, who won 5-0 at the Dripping Pan.

Inigo Calderon grabbed the first Brighton goal under Hyypia in front of a sell-out crowd of 2,150.

Kazenga LuaLua scored a cracking goal to make it 2-0 at half-time and Craig Mackail-Smith, who missed much of last season through injury, netted within a minute of his introduction.

Shamir Fenelon got the last two.

Conference Premier new boys Altrincham enjoyed a stroll in the sun against North West Counties Leaguers Abbey Hey, running out 6-1 winners.

Last season`s top scorer Damian Reeves helped himself to four goals, with Kyle Perry and Sean Williams the other scorers.

Abbey Hey reduced the arrears with a goal from Billy Sutcliffe after 62 minutes against an Alty side including triallist Wade Joyce, the 19-year-old son of Manchester United`s reserve team boss Warren Joyce.

Conference North outfit Barrow AFC beat the Furness Select XI 4-0 at the Furness Building Society Stadium.

Ted Cribley after 26 minutes, new permanent signing Andy Cook on the hour-mark, Paddy Lacey on 62 and Alex-Ray Harvey 2 minutes later were the Bluebirds on target.

Conference South newcomers Hemel Hempstead Town won their opening pre-season game 3-0 at Molten Spartan South Midlands neighbours Berkhamsted.

They finished things off with a Dave Pearce penalty 9 minutes from time.

Conference North new boys AFC Fylde won their opening match 3-1 at NPL First Division North Kendal Town.

Goals from Adam Sumner after 15 minutes, Ritchie Allen 2 minutes later and an un-named triallist in the second period won it for the Coasters, with Mark Jackson netting for the Mintcakes 5 minutes before the break.

Robbie Dale scored the only goal of the game after 24 minutes as NPL Premier Division club Blyth Spartans beat Ebac Northern Leaguers Whitley Bay at Croft Park.

In front of Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, NPL First Division North side Salford City won their opening game 3-1 at NWCL outfit Daisy Hill.

New signings Nicky Platt, Sam Madeley and Gareth Seddon were the `Ammies marksmen.

Two goals from Marvin Williams and singles from Jessy Reindorf, Craig Dundas and a Matt Lockwood penalty earned Conference South side Sutton United a comfortable 5-1 win at Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier outfit Winchester City.

Ryman Premier side Kingstonian ran out 3-0 winners at Ryman Division One South Walton Casuals.

Nathaniel Pinney on 55 and 65 minutes and Andre McCollin 2 minutes later were the K`s marksmen.
