Jay Saunders, manager of Vanarama National League South club Maidstone United, has completed the signing of Callum Davies from Sky Bet League One neighbours Gillingham.
The defender has been a long-term target and several weeks of talks came to fruition with the signing of an eighteen-month deal.
Davies’ move to the Gallagher Stadium ends a fifteen-year association with the Gills. After going through all the age groups with the club, he made it into the first-team and picked up a championship-winners` medal in 2013.
He has also gained experience in non-League football with the likes of Lewes, Thurrock, Dover Athletic, Bromley and, earlier this season, National League high-flyers Eastleigh.
The 22-year-old could be in the sixteen-man squad for the trip to Hartsdown Park to take on Margate on Boxing Day.
