Signings Make U-Turns

Striker Aaron Bowen will stay at Cammell Laird next season after deciding against a move to play at Evo-Stik League…

….First Division North rivals Witton Albion.

The teenager told Albion manager Brian Pritchard of his change of heart despite signing non-contract forms for the Wincham Park outfit last month.

But Witton have moved quickly to replace the tall front man, and hope to make an announcement at the start of next week.

Meanwhile a second summer recruit, former Winsford United and Northwich Victoria wide man Stuart Wellstead, has failed to report for pre-season training.

He too penned Evo-Stik League forms last month after finishing the previous season at another of Witton’s league rivals Woodley Sports.

Before that he had scored eighteen goals in twenty-four starts for Winsford in the North West Counties League Premier Division, later following manager Chris Willcock to Lambeth Grove.

Pritchard reckoned that the 25-year-old would not now be wearing red and white next term.
