Skelmersdale United returned to the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North table with a hard….

….fought victory over Salford City at the West Lancashire College Stadium on Tuesday night.

Skem took the lead in the 8th minute, courtesy of a Craig Flowers own goal, but conceded a 66th equaliser to Scott Metcalfe before Ken Strickland struck the winner 6 minutes later with an excellent finish.

Salford had been reduced to ten-men in the 43rd minute when James Ogoo pulled Joe Evans down a yard outside the penalty area.

Trafford moved up to eighth place after beating Prescot Cables 2-1 at home with a brace from Michael Oates in the 77th and 90th minutes after Leon Clowes had given Cables a 10th minute lead.

Ryan Salmon gave Bamber Bridge an 11th minute lead at Seel Park against Mossley, whose Lee Constantine levelled on 24 minutes.

But Alex Porter scored what proved to be Brig`s winner right on the stroke of half-time.

Tom Denton bagged a brace of penalties to help Wakefield share a 2-2 draw at Warrington Town, whose Anthony Hickey also scored from the spot and Jamie Henders equalised 2 minutes from time.

Radcliffe Borough`s match against Harrogate Railway was postponed by the league due to non-compliance with their request for floodlight readings – despite the work now having been completed, while a phase down from the incoming power from a local sub-station caused the game between Ossett Town and Woodley Sports at Ingfield to be postponed at 7pm.
