Stourbridge star Luke Benbow is set for a move to the National League with Solihull Moors, we can this afternoon reveal.
The striker – the Evo-Stik NPL’s top scorer with 32 last season – will become a Moors players this weekend.
Solihull could be about to sign a third player from Stourbridge after that with manager Gary Hackett powerless to prevent their signing spree.
On Thursday he saw Chris Lait leave for Moors – and Benbow will following, probably on Saturday.
Hackett said: “That’s football. A part of the game is dealing with departures and reacting to it so we’ll be doing everything we can to make sure whoever leaves is replaced.
“Luke has been fantastic this season and I am sure he has every chance of doing well in the National League.”
Lait’s deal has alright been signed and he posted a message to the club’s fans online.
“I would like to thank the supporters, players and backroom staff at Stourbridge for their support over the last two-and-a-half seasons,” he said. “There have been some unforgettable moments during this period, including the F A Cup First Round win away to Dover and last season’s historic run to the third round proper.
“Unfortunately my time at the club has come to an end. I’m gutted that we couldn’t secure promotion at the end of what has been a tough season for me with injuries, but the club is on the right path and it is only a matter of time until it makes the jump up to step 6.
“I will always keep a close eye on and look out for Stourbridge’s results and I am convinced that, with the chairman, excellent coaching staff and playing squad currently in place, next season will be a successful one for the club.”
