Curzon Ashton were unable to make late pressure pay as they drew with Tameside neighbours Stalybridge Celtic for the second time this month on Monday night in the Vanarama National League North at the Tameside Stadium.
There was a fiery beginning to the game as both sides wanted to start well and take control of the game, but they cancelled each other out with neither side recording a shot on target.
The home side had the majority of the play, and the visitors` hopes took a massive blow when on 76 minutes Aaron Chalmers flew into a lunging tackle which earned him a second booking.
But for all of Curzon`s dominance in the second half, Stalybridge could have won the game in time added on at the end of the game.
Curzon failed to clear the ball from their own box and a shot from the edge of the box by Aidan Chippendale was deflected over for a corner.
Jack Higgins headed on to the back post, there was Bohan Dixon, free, unmarked, the goal at his mercy, leg back ready to shoot – and the referee blew for full-time.
