Danny Burnell has made a short-term return to Calor League Southern Division One Central club Slough Town as cover…

….for the absent Eddie Smith and injured Johnnie Dyer.

Burnell, who scored eighty goals in 138 appearances for the Rebels between September 2010 and April 2013, joined Burnham in the summer, but is now looking to step up his match fitness after signing for Hayes & Yeading United in the Skrill South.

Join boss Neil Baker said: “Danny needs to get a few games to get his match sharpness up so he is ready for Hayes & Yeading, and with us two strikers down, it made perfect sense to get him in.

“It suits both of us, and we are delighted he has agreed to come and join us for the next three games.”

Fellow boss Jon Underwood added: “I spoke to Tristan Lewis, who is Phil Babb’s assistant at Hayes & Yeading, and they were both very keen for him to come to Slough and we’re grateful to them for this.”

Striker Matt Grave also joins on a short-term basis, having previously been at Egham Town.

Adam Foulser played 45 minutes for Uhlsport Hellenic League side Ascot United against Oxford City Nomads on Tuesday evening as he continues his comeback from injury, but unfortunately that match was abandoned at half time due to the weather conditions.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper James Hawtree has dual-registered with another Hellenic outfit, Holyport, after a spell at Bracknell Town.
