With the new Midland League Premier Division season fast approaching, the new management team at Long Eaton United have been hard at work focusing on strengthening the squad.
They will be bringing in players to bolster all positions on the pitch, some from teams up in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.
Every player from last season will begin training on 21st June along with the first of the new signings which have been announced today.
Two new defenders join the club, Dion Miekle comes over form NPL First Division South side Basford United and Paul Lister joins from Basford`s league rivals Belper Town.
Meikle numbers Belper, Hucknall Town, Carlton Town, Rainworth Miners Welfare, Arnold Town, Eastwood Town and Grantham Town amongst his former clubs.
Lister is a 25-year-old central defender who joined Belper from Grantham on New Year’s Day 2015.
He was initially a junior at Chesterfield before moving to Burton Albion in 2007.
Since then he has had spells with Hinckley United, Alfreton Town and Boston United before returning to Grantham for the second time in for the 2013/14 season.
Also signing for The Blues is midfielder Leon Osborne, who joins from NPL First Division North outfit Farsley Celtic.
The 26-year-old started out at Bradford City and then had spells with Harrogate Town, Frickley Athletic, Buxton, Goole AFC, Matlock Town and Rainworth Miners Welfare before joining Farsley last summer.
Meikle will also become match day captain and Paulo Piliero will be club captain.
